Mischo Beauty Superstar of the Week: Crystal Wright: Founder, Crystal Wright Live

If you're interested in a career in makeup, hair styling or fashion styling, then you need to check out CrystalWrightLive.com! A former celebrity styling agent for professional makeup, hair and fashion stylists, Crystal is also the author of Crystal Wright's Hair, Makeup & Styling Career Guide which is a self-help book (actually considered an industry "bible") to guide aspiring stylists in developing the tools, skills and professionalism needed behind the scenes in the entertainment, fashion and beauty industries.

Crystal Wright was first brought to my attention after hearing so much positive feedback about her "Build Your Portfolio and Marketing" workshop. And to add to her growing list of accomplishments, she is also the author of 30 Days At 100 Percent: Changing Your Life 30 Days At A Time.

She's clearly driven, focused and most importantly works smart,

Mischo Beauty Loves: Scarlett Johansson for Dolce & Gabbana's "Rose The One" Fragrance Ad Campaign

I love a beautifully executed "beauty" ad campaign and such is the case with Dolce & Gabbana's print ads for their new fragrance, "Rose The One". Again, they've chosen Scarlett Johansson as the campaign spokesmodel (she's also the face for their makeup collection) and I have to congratulate the beauty superstars (hairstylist, makeup artist, manicurist, etc.) behind the scenes who were all a part of making the creative director's vision a reality.

The fragrance collection also includes a shower gel, body lotion and shimmer powder and is exclusively available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Are you loving this ad campaign as much as I am?

Isn't She Lovely...

In celebrating "The Women In Hollywood" issue, ELLE Magazine released five different covers featuring different actresses, one of which was Zoe Saldana. Covers such as hers, are few and far in between and I'm actually searching for hers as I write this (I received the cover with Julianne Moore in the mail). Anyway, for all of you beauty lovers, here's the team of beauty superstars who created her cover look:

Makeup: Rose-Marie Swift at Streeters (all makeup by L'Oreal Paris)
Hair: Ted Gibson at Jed Root Inc.
Photographer: Alexei Hay
Stylist: Christopher Niquet

All makeup used was by L'Oreal Paris and included:
Double Extend Lash Fortifier & Extender Mascara in Carbon Black

Mischo Beauty Loves Scott Barnes' Body Bling

If you haven't tried Body Bling by Scott Barnes (celebrity makeup artist to Jennifer Lopez), then you need to get it now! It's a tinted bronzing body lotion, it compliments every skin tone, and it's made for temporary wear (washes off after each use). And since I'm always on the search for a great bronzer, I gladly accepted the opportunity to try it when his company offered.

After a single application, it gave me a serious glow- which I loved! I think it's perfect for a night out- especially when you want to show a little more skin than usual. I'd love to know your thoughts- if you've tried it, please let me know!

Well, he recently released an instructional DVD called FINE: The Basics of Beauty. I can not wait to see the DVD- hopefully, it will be released soon! But, in the meantime, you're invited to check out Essence Magazine's coverage of the launch party which was held at the Warren-Tricomi Salon at The Plaza.

Mischo Beauty: Q-Tips Vanity Packs

Q-tips recently released a set of Vanity Packs, a collection of four 285 count packs, in four designs (love the colors!). Now I've used Q-tips all of my life, but never really paid close attention to them until I learned Mally Roncal was a celebrity makeup expert for the brand (remember my trip to CVS last year?). And of course you all already know how much I love Mally!

Anyway, I decided to share with you again the beauty tip I learned after reading an interview with Mally in WWD BeautyBiz: "Use Q-tips whenever possible. In a perfect world, if we were all kajillionaires, we could use our Kevyn Aucoin brush once and throw it away, but we can't. Q-tips get the makeup on and off and you can just ditch them".

Simple and easy- no overthinking required!

Mischo Beauty Pick: CARGO's Water Resistant Bronzer & Lash Activator

When Sam Fine (my favorite makeup artist in the whole wide world!) says he loves a product, I'm usually running out to buy it and try it out for myself. You see, I've seen him work his magicin-person and he knocked me off my feet- so his words are the TRUTH when it comes to makeup!

He recently shared his bronzer beauty tips with Elle.com and talked about how much he loves Cargo bronzers. Well, I've been testing out Cargo's Water Resistant Bronzer, specifically formulated to withstand "rain or shine" and I'm loving it. It comes in one shade, Golden Bronze, and it works with every skin tone. It's a shimmery bronzer, but don't worry because it looks very natural during the day!

I've also been testing Cargo's LashActivator, which can be used as either a primer or mascara. It contains ingredients like marine algae, flavonoids, peptides and biotin which work together to thicken, lengthen and slow the rate of "lash loss". My lashes definitely appear longer after using it over time and I'm anxiously awaiting the fullness!

For those of you interested in checking out Cargo's full selection of bronzers, please keep this beauty tip, from Sam Fine, in mind - "Choose one in a shade darker than your complexion. Cargo bronzers come in light, medium and dark so it's very easy to figure out your shade."

So, I'd love to know if you're using a Cargo bronzer and if so, what you love about it!

Mischo Beauty School: Eyelashes 101 & Revlon's Fantasy Lengths Maximum Wear Glue On Eyelashes

If you've been following my blog, you probably know how to apply lashes by now, right? If you need a refresher, please visit my "Mischo Beauty School: Eyelashes 101" post from last month, and please feel free to leave questions for me in the comments section.

So, I have to let you know how much fun I've been having with Revlon's Fantasy Lengths Maximum Wear Glue On Eyelashes. You might remember me telling you a few years ago that lashes were my favorite beauty accessory, inspired by the first Mischo Beauty Icon, Diana Ross, and her iconic look of the 60’s/70’s.

Well the Revlon Fantasy Lengths collection includes five different eyelash styles and comes with a set of eyelashes, eyelash adhesive and an instruction guide. Four easy steps, and with a little practice, you've got new lashes!

I just realized that Revlon's website doesn't list the eyelash styles included in the collection, so I've decided to include photos (please pardon the flash!). Pictured above is style called "Defining", which I believe will give you the most natural look- if trimmed down...

And then there's "Lush"...

A style called "Chic"...

"Minx" is the "party" lash style...

And the style called "Blue Shadow" (the lashes are actually blue!) is simply put- FIERCE!

Do false eyelashes interest you? If so, tell me why?

Mischo Beauty Covers Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: NARS & Herve Leger by Max Azria Fall 2009/#NYFW

NARS was the makeup sponsor for the Herve Leger by Max Azria Fall 2009 runway show. Makeup artist, Diane Kendal drew inspiration from Helmut Newton photographs, using the concept of a brave warrior- strong and fierce.

"The collection is very hard and sculpted so we wanted to keep the skin neutral and show strength through the eyebrows," said Diane.

The focus was a very strong eyebrow with glowy skin, communicating strength without being too bold. "We created very fresh, dewy skin by using the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. It really allowed the skin's natural highlights to shine through," said Diane.

The products used to achieve the look- NARSskin Hydrating Moisture Cream, NARS Concealer, NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, NARS Single Eyeshadow in Bali, NARS Single Eyeshadow in Sophia, NARS Eyelash Curler and NARS Lip Therapy Treatment in Rain.

Love the look?

Mischo Beauty Pick: Cat Cosmetics

I've been wearing Heavenly Lipstick along with the Invisible Longlasting Vitamin E Lipliner, both by Cat Cosmetics, for the past week and I love them. MAC's Modum lipstick was an old favorite of mine and when it was discontinued, I was sad to see it go. But, I was surprised to learn that Heavenly is pretty much an exact match!

It's a creamy, nude frost- with a hint of pink and a hint of taupe. It's formulated with hyaluronic acid, which plumps lips and fills in fine lines. This paired with the Invisible lipliner created a subtle, yet sexy nude lip that I can wear both to work and out at night- when paired with a smokey eye.

Have you tried Cat Cosmetics?
