Mischo Beauty Covers Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: T3 & Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2011

I briefly discussed how much I liked T3 tools here about a week or so ago and was pleased to learn that celebrity hairstylist Orlando Pita used a combination of T3's blow dryers, flat irons and liquid products- "Plump" for volume, "Elevate" for texture and "Control" for hold (all part of the Orlando Pita Liquids collection for T3) to create the textured, low ponytail worn on the runway. The lippie at Rodarte has my name written all over it! It really is about how the look translates off the runway (right!?!), and this lip color will perfectly compliment my red hair and freckles. Using MAC's "Photo" lipstick, inspiration to create the look was drawn from the movie "Days of Heaven", as well as the various shades of brown, cream, taupe and beige used for the collection. The Russians are Coming...Russian Red that is!

I've always wanted to rock a red lip, but am so addicted to neutrals that it almost never happens. I wore a red lipcolor to my senior prom - a bold move by my 17 year-old self, and it looked fabulous! I was inspired to experiment with the color anew after meeting Chrisette Michele and admiring her amazing makeup job.

I discovered that her shade of the moment is MAC's Lady Danger, and it's a beauty. Well, after coveting her red lip, I just had to make it happen for myself. Luckily for me there was a makeup artist on hand at the event who was on the ready to rouge me up. She used MAC lipstick in Russian Red, and a couple of days later, I got my hands on a tube of my own.

I'm sure you all know by now that Rihanna was selected as one of Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year. I love that she's speaking out about domestic violence and letting young women know that it's not ok! She actually shared the December 2009 cover issue with four others who were also selected as Women of the Year.

I loved her spread inside the magazine and couldn't decide which I loved most- her fuchsia lipstick or Gucci boots? Well, of course, the lipstick wins! It reminds me of MAC's "Girl About Town (Fabulous Fuchsia)", which is a hot pink that looks good on a variety of complexions. Oh, and I love her nail polish, too. Anyone know the name of the shade?

While I'm still sad that I received my invitation well after the show's date (I really wanted to see this show!), I wanted to at least let you all know that MAC Cosmetics created the makeup look. Mischo Beauty Extra: MAC's "Shirelle" Nail Polish

So MAC's "Shirelle" nail polish, described as "classic she's a dame red", will be the color to take me into the New Year. I love the color's creamy vibrancy and two coats matched the color in the bottle. I also used two of my favorites for this manicure- Creative Nail Design's SolarOil and Speedy to nourish my nails/cuticles and protect against fading/chipping.

Mischo Beauty: Every Day is World AIDS Day at MAC

As you all know by now, today is World AIDS Day. It was established back in 1988 by the World Health Organization to provide governments, national AIDS programs, faith organizations, community organizations, and individuals with an opportunity to raise awareness and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic.

Well I love the fact that with MAC, "Every Day is World AIDS Day". Oh, and yes, RuPaul was the "First Face of MAC" and helped raise over $22 million dollars for the MAC AIDS fund.

MAC shared with me a few facts that I thought you should know as well: 1. Over 30 million people are living with HIV/AIDS today in the world, 2. The MAC AIDS Fund has raised over 130 million dollars through the sales of Viva Glam products since 1994, 3. 100% of the selling price of Viva Glam products goes towards the fund to help people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS globally, 4. The MAC AIDS Fund is the largest non-pharmaceutical funder of HIV/AIDS organizations, 5. One Viva Glam lipstick can buy 5 meals for someone living with HIV/AIDS.

Yes, another collection from MAC is here! I'm loving all of the dark, rich colors. I haven't worn dark lipstick since the days of Chanel's Vamp, so I'm anxious to test out the colors in this collection.

I've officially fallen behind! I received an email blast from MAC yesterday announcing the launch of their newest collection - Lustre Twins:

"Nine new shades of Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolour featuring an exclusive sheer pigment top coat, with three Nail Lacquers. Separate if you must, but these Lustre Twins shouldn't live without each other. Codepentdent couture colour and shine starts here!"

Mischo Beauty Extra: Lemonade Stand By Your Man By OPI

My intention was to use MAC's "Phosphor", but it was sold out at the MAC store in Georgetown. I settled on OPI's "Lemonade Stand By Your Man" and I'll be the first to admit that I was clearly in denial when I bought this color for myself, but I just had to give it a try! Anyway, it clearly doesn't work with my complexion- and what's even worse is that I had to apply 5 - 6 coats just to achieve the color in the bottle.

Mischo Beauty Pick: MAC Tendertones, Electro Flash, Sonic Chic & New View

I stopped by MAC last night to check out the Tendertones lip balm collection- I had to see what the excitement was about before I missed it. I bought "Hush, Hush" - which on me is a nude lip with sparkle/shine. The color is very sheer and the texture is thicker than I'd expected, but it feels very moisturizing. I do like the fact that it has an SPF of 12. I promise to post photos this weekend!

While I was there, I also found out that the Electro Flash, Sonic Chic and New View collections will be available tomorrow, but you can check them out online now!
