Mischo Beauty: Mini-Facials with DERMAdoctor Skin Care
I've been tweeting for the past couple of weeks about using a regimen of Dermadoctor skin care products during my mini-facials, and I'm finally ready to share the results with you! And just to refresh your memory, my mini-facial steps are very easy- and you will benefit from making them a part of your skincare routine. So the steps are simply:
- Cleanse
- Tone
- Steam Treatment
- Exfoliate
- Tone
- Mask
- Tone
- Apply eye cream & serum
- Apply moisturizer
I used an anti-aging regimen of Dermadoctor products which consisted of:
- Wrinkle Revenge 1 (cleanser)
- Physical Chemistry (exfoliant)
- Wrinkle Revenge Rescue & Protect Eye Balm (eye cream)
- Litmus Test (moisturizer)
I also added the following:
- Clarisonic Skincare Brush
- Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner
- Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque
Now I opted not to add a steam treatment to this regimen because of it being exfoliant-heavy (the cleanser acted as a gentle exfoliant, and the exfoliant itself was a combination of a peel and microdermabrasion treatment!), and I didn't want to over-stimulate my skin. The "less is more" rule applies here!
I used this complete regimen every Sunday evening for a month and my results were exactly what I'd hoped for- radiant skin each time! This regimen is rich in glycolic acid (exfoliating) and antioxidants (repairing & protecting), so it works for a variety of skin types and issues. But, my best advice is always to buy for your particular skin type and conditions. Search for a regimen that works for you, and when you find it- use it consistently and you should experience results similar to mine!

Mischo Beauty Loves Rodial Skincare
With that said, I'm excited to introduce you to Rodial skin care products, whose tag line (which I happen to love) is "The glamorous alternative to surgery". What's most important about this skincare line is that it features "Pomegranate Ellagic Tannin", which is an antioxidant, collagen booster and firming agent. So what does this all really mean? This skincare line is supposed to correct skin conditions such as wrinkles, loose skin, pigmentation and the list goes on and on....
Excited yet? I know I am! Be sure to check out the Glam Balm Wipes (great for makeup removal) and the LA Face Lift kit (perfect for those of you who travel frequently and great for those of you determined to implement a consistent/complete skincare regimen).
If you're using or have tried this line, please share your thoughts!

Mischo Beauty Review: Weleda Wild Rose Cleansing Lotion

This facial cleanser has been perfect for the transition into fall. It's a milky cleanser formulated with organic rosehip and mallow extract, which work together to soothe and protect the skin. My skin type is normal-to-combination, and I find that this leaves my skin thoroughly cleansed, soft and smooth. It is recommended for dry, normal and combination skin types and you're directed to use it both morning and night on your face and neck- and I'm recommending your decollete (your second face!) too! I love it's mild rose fragrance (from essential oils) and I love the fact that due to it's formulation, it's naturally rich in antioxidants (vitamins A & E) which promote cell renewal and reduce the signs of tired and aging skin.
Have you tried Weleda products?

Mischo Beauty Pick: Organic Argan Oil
If you've been keeping up with my blog, you all know how much I love jojoba oil and how I've discussed it's use in a variety of hair, skin and nail products. Well I must let you all know that I have a new love and it's Argan Oil. It differs from jojoba oil in that it's extracted from the Argan Tree, which only grows in Morocco and it's very rich in Vitamin E (antioxidant) and essential fatty acids which work together to prevent signs of aging! Premature aging is caused by free radicals which damage skin cells, destroying the skin's collagen and elastin. As a result, the skin begins to sag and show fine lines and wrinkles. Prevention is the key and once I discovered Argan Oil I couldn't wait to start using it. I've been using it at night after cleansing and toning and before moisturizing and I've been waking up to smooth, glowing skin. I'm sure to double cleanse in the morning before applying my eye cream, moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup for the day.
Argan Oil is similar to jojoba oil in that it is also a great moisturizer for hair, skin and nails. And the beauty industry has jumped on the bandwagon! If you haven't noticed, you'll begin to see major cosmetic companies incorporating it into their beauty products. But, nothing beats using the pure 100% certified organic version! It's fragrance free, paraben free and not tested on animals. Because of it's multi-use, you're getting anti-aging benefits, a hair conditioner, body moisturizer and nail strengthener all in one- and that you can't beat!
Is anyone using Argan Oil? Any thoughts?

Mischo Beauty School: Serums 101
So today I'd like to share with you the benefits of serums. I believe in serums and am amazed at how the skin benefits from them!
A serum is a highly concentrated treatment of active ingredients used to penetrate and treat various skin conditions such a dehydration, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation issues or loss of elasticity. They're ususally made up of vitamins, lipids or antioxidants and are usually the consistency of a thin liquid. To allow for maxium penetration into the skin, they're formulated with smaller molecules which makes them extremely effective. They can be used both day and night and are usually applied under a moisturizer, but can be used alone. During a facial an esthetician might apply a serum under your mask or before the application of your moisturizer depending on your specific skincare needs.
So, do you need a serum? Well, I would suggest creating a skincare regimen and being faithful to it. Once you're consist with your regimen, really begin to pay attention to your skin and make note - for example- of dehydrated areas, loss of elasticity and dullness. If your skincare regimen doesn't correct these issues, then I'd highly suggest investing in a serum!
Love your skin.

Mischo Beauty Pick: REN Omega 3 Overnight Lipid Renewal Serum
I now truly believe in the term "beauty sleep" but it took my studying skin physiology to understand it. When you're sleeping your skin cells repair themselves, which is why it's best to use serums, that penetrate deep into the skin, at night. Serums are extremely effective in aiding in the cell repair/renewal process.
I was introduced to this product by a sales associate at Sephora recently, and it's formulated with omega 3, vitamin E and vitamin A- which all work together to aid in the cell renewal process while hydrating the skin. I wasn't sure what to expect from this serum, but after the very first night I used it, I saw a HUGE difference in my skin. I highly recommend this! Read More......
