Ask Mischo Beauty...
"What does the #HealthySexyBeautiful2010 hashtag mean? Why do you use it?"
I use the hashtag every time I tweet something related to the "A Healthy, Sexy & Beautiful 2010" challenge I started last year. I not only discuss external beauty on this blog, but internal beauty as well. I love educating you on the health of your hair, skin and nails and I want to be a source of motivation and encourage you to take care of yourself internally as well. And so the challenge was born!
I use the hashtag when I'm tweeting the things I'm doing daily to keep fit and healthy. I also try to post weekly updates on the blog. This was never a "weight-loss" challenge, but more of a "get fit" or "lifestyle change" challenge. If you lose weight, and that's your goal, then great.
And my disclaimer has always been that I am not a dietitian, nutritionist, or a medical doctor- so always seek the advice of your doctor! That's pretty much it. I plan to continue the challenge into 2011 and will be using the #HealthySexyBeautiful2011 hashtag, so please stay tuned!

Mischo Beauty Pick: Rene Furterer's KARITE Collection
It includes the following:
- Rene Furterer Complexe 5 Regenerating Extract
- Rene Furterer Karite Intense Nutrition Oil
- Rene Furterer Karite Shampoo
- Rene Furterer Karite Nourishing Conditioning Cream
- Rene Furterer Karite No Rinse Nutritive Concentrate
The Intense Nutrition Oil isn't pictured above because I dropped it on my bathroom floor (it comes in a glass bottle), but it along with the Complexe 5 Regenerating Extract make an excellent pre-poo treatment. I'd have to say that my favorite product from this regimen is the Nourishing Conditioning Cream, which I'd fallen in love with years ago while apprenticing, and it does not disappoint.
I'd love to hear your thoughts if you've tried this regimen, or are thinking of trying it!

Mischo Beauty Pick: Lashes by Ja'Maal Buster - The Eyelash Guru To The Stars
Application is simple- just remember these steps. Oh, and you will need to purchase your own lash adhesive/glue, because it's not provided. While I'm not planning to wear them to work (they'd be too much of a distraction), I am planning to wear them out every chance I get- as you can see why!

Mischo Beauty: Rene Furterer's OKARA Collection
And while we're on the subject of color-treated hair, Rene Furterer sent me their Okara regimen of products (specifically for color-treated hair), which includes the Okara Protective Radiance Shampoo, Okara Restructuring & Protective Radiance Mask and the Okara 2-Phase Leave-In Protective Conditioner. Now I'm mentioning this collection to you because recently I shared a beauty tip on Twitter regarding investing in products to protect and maintain haircolor.
If you're going to invest so much in haircolor services, then it only makes sense to maintain that investment with the very best products! I've used the Okara regimen on clients in the past and I've always loved the results, so I thought I'd share it with you.
I love answering your haircolor questions, so please leave them in the comments section and I'll get right back to you!

Mischo Beauty Pick: Nexxus Dualiste
Now if you follow my tweets on Twitter, then you know that I recently shared a beauty tip regarding investing in products for color-treated hair to help preserve, protect and prevent fading. Well I've always been pleased with Nexxus products in the past, and I believe that this collection is definitely worth checking out!
I love, love, love the fact that both the shampoo and conditioner have a dual chamber bottle which offers you the option to pump color protection from one side and either Intense Hydration, Volume, or Anti-Breakage from the other. This means that the shampoo and conditioner are formulated for your hair type and whatever issues you might have! Now what more could you ask for!?!

Mischo Beauty Review: Sunkist Naturals Pomegranate Sunshine

For those of you who follow my Twitter updates, you know I try to start the day with something healthy. Sometimes it's a smoothie, or tomato juice & green magma, or OJ & psyllium husks, and I usually supplement whatever it is I choose to have with a multivitamin, borage oil, omega 3 oils, green tea and lots of water. When I was asked to try Sunkist Natural's new Pomegranate Sunshine smoothie, my first thought was that I write about beauty and not food, but after thinking about it a while longer, it only made sense for me to try it because essentially beauty starts from within and if you aren't following a healthy diet, it will easily show itself in your hair, skin and nails! So I welcomed the opportunity and I must say that I do like the flavor- it's a blend of pomegranate juice (high in antioxidants) and it's rich in vitamins A, B and C. It's about 130 calories, 0 fat, 0 cholesterol and contains 1 gram of protein per serving. There's no added sugar, preservatives or artificial ingredients. The benefits, along with the price, make it worth a try!
