Mischo Beauty Extra: Deborah Lippmann's Fall 2010 Nail Polish Collection

During my birthday weekend, I headed over to Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa (Chevy Chase) for a manicure. I was really looking forward to the Red Door Signature manicure, but instead received the Warm Cream manicure due to the lack of available appointments. Well, I wish I would've waited, because I wasn't happy with my service- at all. Not only was the manicure rushed, but I came in wearing Chanel's "Dragon" and for some reason left with red stains around my cuticles. So what saved the day? Well it was Deborah Lippmann's "Bad Romance" nail polish (center in photo above). It's part of the fall collection which also includes "Across the Universe" (right in photo above) - and I love it! Mischo Beauty Loves Lippmann Collection's 10th Anniversary Set

You all might remember my having the opportunity to meet THE Deborah Lippman, manicurist to the stars, backstage at Lela Rose during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Well, I'm excited to tell you about her 10th Anniversary Set of nail colors which recently launched and is so perfect for fall. Each shade has my name written all over it! The set includes:

- Superstar: "show stopping copper flecked fudge (glitter)"
- Funky Chunky: "sequined sheer black (glitter)"
- Ruby Red Slippers: "Dorothy's shimmering ruby (glitter)"

I was already a huge fan of "Superstar", and I know I'll be using the other two shades until I get to the very last drop!

Mischo Beauty Covers Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Deborah Lippmann & Lela Rose Spring 2010

I was given the most amazing opportunity to meet THE Deborah Lippmann, celebrity manicurist to the stars, backstage at the Lela Rose runway show and I'm still pinching myself! Deborah was the creative director for nails for the show and used "Fashion" from her Lippmann Collection on the models' fingers and toes. She told me that "Fashion" (pictured above left) is a "modern take on the sheer pink nail" and she felt that it complemented the collection perfectly.

Deborah used "Ridge Filler" (pictured above center) as the base coat to prevent streaking and "Addicted To Speed" for the top coat. She mentioned two tips that I had to share with you all:

- The "squoval" (square-oval) nail shape is out! Let it go, ladies! Request that your manicurist work with your natural nail shape.

- French pedicures are OUT for spring! Please retire them! Opt for soft, neutral colors for your pedicure. (Now that's the BEST nail news I've heard yet!)

Because I was in "beauty heaven" backstage and in awe of being able to speak with Deborah, I didn't snap pictures of the models' nails (so mad at myself as I type this!). But, you may view the entire Lela Rose Collection here.

Mischo Beauty Extra: Lippmann Collection Summer 2009

I'm really loving "It's Raining Men" which is one of two nail colors released for summer 2009 by the Lippmann Collection. It's a "timeless parisian red -creme" which was created to complement the runways of Christian Dior and Valentino.

The second color in the collection is "Call Me Irresponsible" and it's a "vivacious violet -creme" also inspired by the spring/summer looks on the runways. Now although it's a creme, I found the application to be very sheer and needed almost four coats to achieve the bottle color.

I had no issues with "It's Raining Men"- I only needed two coats to achieve my desired finish and I even found the color to be a nice "pick-me-up" in the midst of DC's April showers.

And as we near Earth Day and make an effort to continue to find ways to better care for our environment, you should know that the Lippmann Collection is 3-free formulated (no toluene, formaldehyde or DBP).

Mischo Beauty Extra: Lippmann Collection's "Fade To Black" Nail Polish

I'm loving Lippmann Collection's "Fade To Black", which is part of the Fall 2008 collection. It's a rich, deep, black creme color that made it's debut on the runway during Fashion Week at Zac Posen's show. After two coats, the color is an exact match for the bottle color. It contains biotin and green tea to strengthen nails - and it's free of formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate (DBP). So what do you think?
