Mischo Beauty Extra: Deborah Lippmann's Fall 2010 Nail Polish Collection

During my birthday weekend, I headed over to Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa (Chevy Chase) for a manicure. I was really looking forward to the Red Door Signature manicure, but instead received the Warm Cream manicure due to the lack of available appointments. Well, I wish I would've waited, because I wasn't happy with my service- at all. Not only was the manicure rushed, but I came in wearing Chanel's "Dragon" and for some reason left with red stains around my cuticles. So what saved the day? Well it was Deborah Lippmann's "Bad Romance" nail polish (center in photo above). It's part of the fall collection which also includes "Across the Universe" (right in photo above) - and I love it! Here's another photo...

Mischo Beauty's Dove Spa Day

As part of Dove's new campaign for it's newly launched Dove Ultimate Deodorant formula, which I mentioned here, I was given the amazing opportunity to invite ten friends to join me at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa for manicure, pedicure and piticure treatments.

We started the day by showing each guest how to perform a piticure treatment which consisted of a gentle exfoliation of the underarms, shaving and then the application of Dove Ultimate.
Dove provided each guest with a set of gentle cleansing wipes, a razor and Dove Ultimate which was all that was needed for the treatment.

We all then received the most amazing and relaxing manicures and pedicures. If you were following my tweets that day, then you know I selected YSL's #42 Ultra Orange for my manicure and YSL's #42 Ultra Orange layered with Sephora by OPI's "Only Gold for Me" for my pedicure.

I loved my nails and my guests love all of their services. I just wish I had more photos to share. Unfortunately, having to keep the appointments organized, along with the fact that our services weren't performed in a private room, kept me from taking photos as I did not want to be a distraction to other guests of the spa. But, an AMAZING spa day was had by all!

Thank you, Dove!

Mischo Beauty Extra: Zoya's Twist Spring 2009 Nail Polish Collection

My friend, Shalon (an expert manicurist at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa) has always had great things to say about Zoya Nail Polish. I trust what she says because not only does she use Zoya day-in and day-out on her clients, but she's been doing nails for 7 years and has used just about every brand out there.

Now I'd posted Zoya's "Manhattan" without trying it, because I loved the color. My interested was further inspired after following Zoya on the runways during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Well, lucky for me, I was finally able to check out Zoya's Twist collection for Spring 2009.

The colors from left to right are: Moxie (vibrant red plum cream), Cassi (shimmering soft peach), Barbie (shimmering soft pink), Malia (violet cream), Jo (shimmering silver blue metallic) and Harley (soft shimmering gray).

I loved all of the colors, but my color of choice for this post was "Malia"- such a pretty color! My nails reminded me of the Easter candy I'm starting to see on the shelves of just about every store right now!

In general, I found the nail polish formulations to be highly pigmented; and very rich and creamy. No watered-down formulations, and the brush was the perfect width for a 3-stroke application. A perfect finish required two coats.

I found the "wear" of the nail polish to be long-lasting, though I know that varies with each individual's day-to-day activities. So after testing the collection out, I now know why it was used on the runways of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and why it's currently used in Red Door Spas throughout the nation!

You should also know that the formulations are free of formaldehyde, toluene, DBP and camphor. Zoya is only available at salons, spas and zoya.com.

So what do you think of the collection? Have you tried Zoya?

Mischo Beauty Extra: Rescue Beauty Lounge's "Black Russian" Nail Polish

Remember my trip to Rescue Beauty Lounge? Well there's one thing I won't deny and that's my love for their nail polish. The colors and textures don't disappoint and the packaging (nail polish bottle, nail polish box & bag) are so very chic- makes me want to buy the nail polish based on the packaging alone!

Above, I'm wearing Black Russian which is a black nail polish with "ruby red flecks". My nails were perfectly manicured this week by my absolute favorite manicurist, Shalon Walker. I only needed two coats to achieve the bottle color and I love it. You'll see it above being compared to another one of my favorites, "Killa Red".

So what do you think?
