Mischo Beauty: Avon Advance Techniques Frizz Control Collection

I spent this past weekend in sunny Sarasota, Florida attending my friend's lux wedding at the Ritz-Carlton. She'd given me the heads-up about the wedding being held outside on the hotel's lawn, and so I thought what better time to try Avon's new Advance Techniques Frizz Control collection - especially since Tippi Shorter, Avon Global Stylist Advisor, recommended it! I left 45/50 degree weather last Friday and landed in 85 degrees, plus humidity and I knew my type 4, texturized layers wouldn't make it through the weekend without help! Well, based on my hair's condition and needs, this collection didn't quite do the job. As you can see below, my hair was flat by the end of the wedding ceremony and we had a whole day left of festivities! Oh well, I guess you win some and the rest- you just go with the flow and enjoy....

Mischo Beauty Pick: Mark Cosmetics' Glowdacious Illuminating Powders & Totally Balmed SPF 15 Tinted Lip Balms

The makeup I've been wearing as of late has been melting right off of my face. I'm only partly blaming the weather (yes, it has been 90++ degrees for a few months now) because I did make a promise to myself to try and get as many steps in each day (the "A Healthy, Sexy & Beautiful 2010" challenge is still going on!), so that means walking up escalators and of course, taking the steps instead of the elevators! And so because of all of this, I've reduced my makeup down to the basics, and that's where Mark comes into play.

I've substituted my regular blushes for Mark's Glowdacious Illuminating Powders in "Prettied Up" and "Shimmied Up". Both give you a hint of color, along with a little bronzing and highlighting. And on my lips, I've been using "Totally Cute" and "Totally Pink" for just a hint of color. Both are sheer and are actually tinted lip balms with the bonus of being formulated with a SPF. They're perfect for me at the moment because believe it or not, my lips have been so dry lately...

Like Mark products? Would love to know.

Mischo Beauty Pick: Avon's ANEW CLINICAL Luminosity Pro Brightening Serum

I haven't talked about serums, as they relate to a complete skincare regimen in a while, and thought Avon's new ANEW Clinical Luminosity Pro Brightening Serum was definitely worth checking out. The benefits of serums, as discussed here, are amazing and I highly encourage incorporating them into your at-home skincare regimen.

Now the ANEW Clinical Luminosity Pro Brightening Serum is recommended for all skin types, but specifically for those who are experiencing the following skin conditions: premature aging, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and dullness (be sure to read this!). The serum's key ingredient, L-Aspartic Acid, works to prevent discoloration while removing dead skin cells. And what I'm loving most is Avon's Skincare Quiz which helps you determine the best regimen of products for your skin's needs!

If your at-home skincare regimen includes a serum, please let me know what you're using and why?

Mischo Beauty Superstar of the Week: Tippi Shorter

I first learned of celebrity hairstylist Tippi Shorter during the days of Honey Magazine. You see the then editor-in-chief, Amy DuBois Barnett, was a client of Tippi's and would share her hair experiences with us readers, ultimately leaving us wishing we had someone as fabulous as Tippi doing our hair!

Fast forward to the present and Tippi's accomplishments are amazing, inspiring and well-deserved. She's now an Avon Global Stylist Advisor responsible for creating the backstage looks at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and helping women to achieve these same runway looks at home.

Not only is Tippi still creating the looks for celebrities such as Alicia Keys, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Beyonce, but she's also now at the FABULOUS Warren Tricomi Salon located inside The Plaza Hotel (if you haven't visited this location, you need to get there now! It's breathtakingly beautiful!!!). Check out Tippi's website, her latest venture "Get Gorgeous Hair" and be sure to let me know your thoughts!

Mischo Beauty: Avon Glazewear Lip Gloss

I'm again surprised by Avon, and this time the reason is the new collection of
Glazewear lip glosses. I just knew these would be sticky, and ultimately drying- but they're not. I love the collection of shades, the color payoff is nice, and best of all- there are three finishes: sparkle, shine and intense.

Be sure to check them out and let me know your thoughts!

Mischo Beauty Pick: Avon ANEW

If you've never heard of the Avon ANEW collection of products, then you should make it a point to check out the website ASAP! By now you all know that I have this serious love affair going on with skin (well skin and hair- they're tied! LOL), which is why I've stressed the importance of a consistent skincare regimen about a million times! Well, after checking out the ANEW collection of products (which are formulated for the premature aging/aging skin condition) I'm impressed and thought you all should know about them!

First of all, be sure to take the ANEW Skincare Quiz when you visit the website, because it takes the guessing out of which products are best for you. After taking the quiz, you're given a list of products recommended for your specific needs, and you're also told which to use in the morning and at night.

So why should you try these products? Well, the promise of consistent cell turnover (which keeps skin looking young and fresh), tiny pores, the reduction of fine lines and an even skintone! I'm sold. And guess what? You have no excuses for not using this collection to start an amazing skincare regimen.

If you've tried this collection, please let us know your thoughts!

Mischo Beauty: Avon's Smooth Minerals

I'll be honest and admit that I haven't used Avon makeup in years- actually probably not since my sister and I used to sneak and take the lipstick samples (my Mom used to get from co-workers selling Avon) with us to elementary school. Well Avon sent me a few items from their new Smooth Mineral collection and I have to tell you that I'm particularly found of the lipsticks (I found them to be very moisturizing) and the eye liners (easy on- easy off!). The complete collection is available here.

Mischo Beauty Pick: ANEW Clinical Derma-Full X3 Facial Filling Serum

You might remember my Mischo Beauty School: Serums 101 post, where I discussed what exactly serums were and how you might benefit from them. And just to refresh your memory, serums are highly concentrated treatments of active ingredients used to penetrate and treat various skin conditions such as dehydration, stress, environmental damage, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation issues or loss of elasticity.

Well AVON recently introduced their ANEW Clinical Derma-Full X3 Facial Filling Serum, which is an injectable-grade topical treatment. Hyaluronic Acid is a key ingredient used to fill fine lines and wrinkles, so what this means for you is: 1) it's the strength used in Dermatologist's offices, so similar results should apply; 2) it's a topical treatment, so there's no worry about pain- no needles!; and 3) it costs a fraction of what you'd normally pay for a treatment at a Dermatologist's office.

The proposed benefits, plus the price ($54), make this totally worth a try!
