Mischo Beauty: Zoya's "Layla" Nail Polish & Bikini Brunch at the Hotel Gansevoort

I mentioned on Twitter this morning that I refreshed my manicure/pedicure using Zoya's "Layla" (which I happened to win by following Zoya on Twitter!) and a few of you requested photos. You can see the color on my nails in the photo above, which was taken this afternoon while I was having brunch at the Hotel Gansevoort.

Zoya describes the nail color as a "hot bright deep pink cream", and I must tell you that I've been receiving compliments all week!

I enjoyed brunch, and the view of the city was amazing. I also toured the Gansevoort Exhale Spa (which I recommended to everyone about a year ago) and I can't wait to try the services.

Oh, and while I was in the Meatpacking District, I also toured Edris Salon (which I've also recommended several times. You might remember my mentioning, in the past, that Edris is Creative Director for hair for Tracy Reese every Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

I've blogged about Edris Salon two or three times already- I guess today is a day of repeats, but deservedly so! Edris is the woman behind this great salon and she is also the Creative Director for hair every Fashion Week for Tracey Reese's shows. I first learned of Edris a few years ago after reading Suede Magazine, which is no longer in print (this was before I'd started cosmetology school) and found her to be a huge inspiration! Anyway, you all know how excited I am about Fashion Week this September and I'm hoping to be able to see Edris work her magic backstage!

In the meantime, check out her salon and treat yourself to a new haircut for fall. You're totally worth it!

Beautiful hair needs an expert.

So I have to begin by asking- are dark roots in? Just curious, because it seems like they're a current trend among celebrities, not to mention that they were the signature look of Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie Bradshaw on "Sex and the City". I love Madonna's hair in the above photo, both the style and color, but I can't seem to get past her 1 inch of dark roots! As a colorist, I see clients with all stages of new growth- 1/2 inch, 1 inch, 2 inches, it varies. But to see a celebrity with dark roots? I'm sure just about any colorist would give her a root touch-up for free, just to be able to say she's a client of theirs!

At any rate, if you've been following my blog, you know by now how much I love Kerastase products! I've had the opportunity to work with just about every Kerastase product over the past three years. My recommendation for color-treated hair is the Kerastase Reflection regimen. The Bain Miroir shampoo eliminates build-up and provides protection, while smoothing the hair's cuticle. The Chroma Reflect Masque smells sooooo good! It's always the top deep conditioning treatment of choice used in the salon. It's perfect for adding much needed moisture to the hair and extending color. Finally, the Chroma Protect is great for styling. It's applied to damp hair and provides protection, smooths the hair shaft and adds shine.

The Kerastase Reflection regimen gets my "Sexy, Healthy, Beautiful" stamp of approval!
