Ask Mischo Beauty...

This week's question comes from a reader (who asked to remain anonymous), wanting to know the following:

"Any suggestions on how to get rid of or reduce ingrown hairs after a bikini wax?"

My best advice is to make sure you're exfoliating consistently in between waxing appointments! A few days before your appointment, lightly exfoliate which will in turn make hair easier to adhere to the wax. Resume exfoliation about 3 days after waxing to ensure the removal of dead skin cells, which, if not removed, could cause the hair to grow inward resulting in ingrown hairs. Here are a few products which help prevent ingrown hairs:

- BLISS Ingrown Eliminating Pads
- Tend Skin

For best results, always read and follow the manufacturer's directions on use! Also, DO NOT shave in between waxing appointments. Ideally, you'd like your hair growing on the same hair growth cycle to ensure an even length throughout and therefore a thorough waxing. I hope this helps. Mischo Beauty: Rolling Razor

I recently had the opportunity to test out a new razor called, Rolling Razor. As you can see in the photo above, the razor blades are attached to a ring-shaped handle which is supposed to make shaving both more comfortable, as well as faster. Now, I used the razor along with the blades designed for sensitive skin and the pomegranate shaving cream. While I can't say that the razor made shaving faster (I had to get use to using the ring-shaped handle), I will say that I had no issues. I loved the smell of the shaving cream and it left my skin soft and smooth!

So tell me, would you use a razor shaped like this?

Mischo Beauty Pick: Gillette Venus Embrace

I've been using the Gillette Venus razor for a few years now and love it! And so, I welcomed the opportunity to try the new Gillette Venus Embrace razor. The razor has 5 blades, a moisture ribbon and is very easy to grip - this combination makes for a smooth glide and no worries of cuts. It didn't let me down- and yes, I do believe it gave me the closest shave I've had yet.

The razor comes with two refill cartridges and a ShowerPod (pictured above) which allows you to store both the razor and cartridges inside of your shower. The results I experienced, the convenience, and the price all make this a winner. I highly recommend it!
