Mischo Beauty Pick: Mystic Tan Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer Body SPF 15 & Sunless Tanning Lotion Face + Body

Before heading out to LA last weekend for the BET Awards, I treated myself to an airbrush tan. I don't lay out in the sun and really wanted a bronzy glow- similar to Jada Pinkett Smith's July cover of Essence. Unfortunately, two days after the airbrush service, I saw the tan washing down the drain of the shower.

But luckily for me, Mystic Tan rescued me! A combination of the Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer (body) and the Sunless Tanning Lotion (face & body) helped me save what was left of my airbrush tan, in addition to giving me a sexy, natural glow. And what I loved most was the fact that my skin looked so toned! A definite beauty win! (#beautywin).

Would love to know if you're using Mystic Tan products, and what your thoughts are!

Mischo Beauty Review: Dior Bronze Self-Tanner Natural Glow Face

I was sad to learn that Lancome recently discontinued it's Flash Bronzer Face Gel, remember me mentioning it here and here? So I recently stopped in Sephora to find a replacement and picked up Dior's Dior Bronze Self-Tanner Natural Glow Face and unfortunately it's not what I'd expected. First, it's very heavily scented- almost, feels like I'm applying perfume to my face. And secondly, I have yet to see the color payoff. My expectation is for a natural, fresh-looking glow and it just doesn't deliver for me. So, my hunt continues...

If you have a recommendation for me, please let me know! Thanks.

Mischo Beauty Review: Completely Bare's Sculpted Tan

I was invited in to experience Completely Bare's Sculpted Tan about a month ago. And, after reading the service description, and based on the fact that I hadn't had an airbrushed tan in a couple of years, I was actually excited to try it out!

"The Sculpted Tan highlights and redefines areas of the body with precise, natural looking results. The Sculpted Tan is an airbrushed technique that "chisels" your body using two different airbrushes and two different solutions, the first giving you your base tan while the second shapes your body."

The words "precise, natural looking, and chisels", were not only the words that stood out for me, but were actually the results I was eagerly awaiting. So I visited the 25 Bond Street location for the service and was greeted by my esthetician, who escorted me into the treatment room. Now it's completely up to you on whether or not you'd like to be airbrushed in a bikini of your own, use their disposable thong or be completely naked. The service lasted about 45 minutes (including drying time), and I felt my esthetician did a great job with the coverage.

My only concerns were with the fact that there was no full-length mirror in the room, so my esthetician kindly held up a 5x7 mirror as I checked to see the results. Also, I don't believe there were "two different airbrushes and two different solutions" used during my service. At least I didn't see my esthetician change the equipment or solution... I was indeed sprayed twice, my esthetician did not miss a spot!

I think the service is great if you're headed to the islands and you want to save your skin from the sun, or if you're just in need of a "pick-me-up glow" while in the city. My advice is to purchase a self-tanner for maintenance, because you'll lose some of the glow when you first shower after waiting 8 hours after the service.

If you've had this service, then I'd love to know what your experience was- also, if you've had any other services at Completely Bare, please share!

Mischo Beauty Pick: Beautisol's Dark Tanning System

If you spent any portion of the summer in the New York metro area, you know that summer lasted for about a week or two this year. And so, I'll be the first to admit that I've been slow to accept fall and have been somewhat longing for the warmth of summer. Well, what I won't have issues with, as we move into fall, is keeping up a bronzy glow- whenever I choose, since having tried Beautisol's Dark Tanning System. The system comes complete with:

- Summer Glow Dark Self-Tanning Lotion
- Go Slough Yourself Dual Action Scrub
- Two Pairs of Application Gloves
- A Detailed Set of Before/After-Use Instructions

There are a few things I loved about this self-tanning system: 1) There was no funky self-tanner scent before or after use (Yay!); 2) The instructions are very THOROUGH and EASY to follow (you should end with an evenly developed tan); 3) It comes with an exfoliant (I'm an exfoliant addict and strongly believe in the benefits!).

My resulting tan was a little too dark for my taste- I should have used the Gradual Tanning System, which allows for more control of the tan's development. Both tanning systems are free of parabens and formulated with antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients, all of which are a plus!

You'll be excited to know that Beautisol has extended a 20% discount to Mischo Beauty readers. Take advantage of this promotion when you visit www.beautisol.com and enter promotion code 09BLMSC at check out.

Mischo Beauty Pick: Fake Bake

After reviewing Fake Bake's list of celebrity fans, I was more than anxious to try the products out for myself. And so I tried the Instant Self-Tanning Spray, Sunless & Skinny, The Face Self-Tanning Lotion and the Babe Tools Lip Gloss in Domestically Disabled, No Worries and Bronze Addiction.

I'm somewhat picky when it comes to self-tanners for a few reasons- the color development (often times the final color looks orange), streaking (you have to be really careful with application) and the odor (speaks for itself!).

And so my favorite product of those pictured above was the Sunless & Skinny. First, I loved the smell and that's always the first test for whether or not I'll even test a self-tanner. Second, I loved the color development. My complexion is fair and so I loved that it developed gradually- and the color is buildable, depending on the look you're trying to achieve.

I should also let you know that Sunless & Skinny is formulated with cellulite fighters such as active copper mineral and seaweed kelp which work together to firm, tone and aid in smoothing dimpled skin. Now I haven't used it long enough to have witnessed those results, but I'm optimistic! I've fallen in love with my natural-looking tan and can't wait to start showing off some skin! :)

Mischo Beauty Reader Favorite: L'Oreal Sublime Glow

I received an e-mail from my reader Andrea asking that I share one of her new beauty favorites with you. She recently picked up L’Oreal’s Sublime Glow in Medium (and my recommendation of L’Oreal’s Skin Genesis!) and loves, loves, loves the results! It’s a daily moisturizer that also gradually enhances your skin tone. According to the label, the “Medium” is for those that tan easily or for brunettes. Andrea’s complexion can be compared to that of Nia Long, so this works to give her a soft shimmer and very natural glow to her already gorgeous complexion. While she wishes the consistency were thicker, she’s happy it doesn’t have the typical “self-tanner” scent! She did point out that you need to make sure you wash your hands immediately after application or this will definitely turn the palms of your hands brown. Overall she loves it and has added it to her favorite beauty products.

I love it! Thanks for sharing Andrea!

If you'd like to share your favorite beauty products simply send an e-mail to: mischobeauty@gmail.com with "Mischo Beauty Reader Favorite" in the subject line and tell me all about it!

Have you tried this? Any thoughts?
