Mischo Beauty: ARROJO Product
I'm inspired by Nick Arrojo's accomplishments- a salon and color studio, academy, cosmetology school, Arrojo product concept store, a host of educational materials (books, DVD's, etc.), and the fact that he's the resident hairstylist for What Not To Wear! He's doing exactly what I'm planning to do and I was more than excited to learn about his new haircare and skincare collection.
The haircare collection includes shampoos, conditioners, styling and finishing aids. For my hair type, I chose to try the Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, Hair Repair Masque, Frizz Control and Shine Spray. I loved the Hair Repair Masque, it both hydrated and softened my type 4B hair.
The skincare range includes products for both the face and body. The daily face wash is a gel cleanser which contains moisture beads which help to gently exfoliate the skin. I loved the scent which is a blend of bergamot, daisies and white cedar wood.
The selection of body washes include Refreshing Rhubarb, Sweet Patchouli and Floral Citrus. To learn more about the Arrojo products and the Arrojo beauty empire, please visit www.arrojoproduct.com.

Mischo Beauty School: Haircolor 101
Since completing cosmetology school and haircolor apprenticeships at Vidal Sassoon and Red Door, I've become very passionate about haircolor and yes, I'm writing about it again! I've done root touch-ups, highlights, gray coverage, bleach & tones, highlift blondes, and single & double haircolor processes. Believe it or not, I was always able to find a model that needed one of these services and the results always left me amazed and excited about the next challenge.
With that said, let's discuss haircolor. It falls into four categories: temporary, semipermanent, demipermanent, and permanent.
1. Temporary haircolor coats the hair shaft and is easily removed by shampooing. Examples include: color rinses or color-enhancing shampoos.
2. Semipermanent haircolor partially penetrates the hair shaft and slowly fades with shampooing. It doesn't lighten the hair and is usually used to enhance fading haircolor.
3. Demipermanent haircolor doesn't lighten hair and, like semipermanent haircolor, it is used to enhance fading haircolor. It penetrates the hair shaft and lasts longer than semipermanent haircolor.
4. Permanent haircolor is used to lighten hair and also to cover grey. It remains in the hair shaft until the growth of new hair.

Mischo Beauty Pick: SolarOil, By Creative Nail Design
I was first introduced to SolarOil about three years ago while completing cosmetology school. A representative from Creative Nail Design taught our course on nails (both natural nails and nail enhancements) and introduced us to just about every product made by the company. As much as I love receiving manicures and pedicures, the nail course wasn't my favorite. And to this day I still can't believe I used to wear long airbrushed tips with an acrylic overlay! I could barely get through the section on nail enhancements due to the odors! At any rate, I will tell you that one of my favorite nail products is the SolarOil, by Creative Nail Design. It's a very light nail and cuticle conditioner which contains a blend of jojoba oil, rice bran oil, sweet almond oil and vitamin E. This blend of oils works to protect cuticles from cracking and conditions the nails, preventing breakage. I love that fact that the SolarOil contains one of my favorite ingredients, jojoba oil! Jojoba oil is very similar to human sebum (the natural oil produced by the human body) and therefore is structured so that it's able to penetrate deep into the skin. This helps with cell renewal and slows signs of aging. And, as we all know, the hands along with the forehead, eyes, mouth and neck all show signs of aging first. While this is used during a manicure or pedicure service, it should also be used nightly.
What do you use to keep your cuticles and nails conditioned? Please share your favorites!
