Mischo Beauty: Fashion’s Night Out, September 10, 2009 NYC

If you live in or near New York City- or are planning a trip soon, then please save the date for September 10th when over 700 stores (flagships, tiny boutiques, department stores, young designers, mainstream chains and niche luxury shops) will be participating in Fashion's Night Out (FNO). FNO is a global initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence and boost the industry's economy. U.S. and international editions of Vogue are coordinating evening extravaganzas in their respective world fashion capitals.

Participating stores across the five boroughs will stay open late- until 11pm- and will host events such as designer appearances, live windows, DJ's, celebrity guests and other special events. In addition, two important New York charities- the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and the NYC AIDS Fund- will benefit from the initiative via the sale of the charity T-shirt (as pictured above).

Now believe me, if I could be everywhere that night, I would! But, because I know I can't, I've decided to share with you a few of my top picks (with regards to beauty- of course!) for that evening:

CHANEL:
Soho (139 Spring Street): Nail the coolest shades at the Chanel Champagne Nail Bar. Bypass the wait lists and be among the first to get your hands on Jade, the newest Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour from global creative director of makeup, Peter Philips. A must-have, limited-edition runway shade that's sure to become a cult favorite this fall. Jade echoes the pistachio tweed and jade jewelry of the Chanel autumn-winter 2009/2010 ready-to-wear collection. Stop by for a complimentary mini-manicure with this exclusive nail colour.

THE PLAZA BEAUTY BY WARREN TRICOMI:
(1 West 58th Street, The Plaza Hotel): In celebration of this event, visitors are being offered rare access to the sought-after experts and cult icons behind the elite brands carried at The Plaza Beauty. Expert makeup artists from Smashbox and Becca will be on site for makeup consultations, as well as representatives from SJAL and Comfort Zone will be on hand to provide mini-facials, hand massages and treatments. Renowned stylists Joel Warren and Edward Tricomi will be presenting hair demonstrations to showcase fall's key trends. Deluxe samples will also be provided courtesy of Lisa Hoffman Skincare, Tocca, Revitalash, Luzern Skincare, Kai, MLAB, Santa Maria Novella and Sponge Skincare. You will also receive the chance to win a day of beauty at the Warren-Tricomi Salon at The Plaza.

JURLIQUE:
(477 Madison Avenue): Jurlique will be offering a free, full-size cleanser with any purchase of two products or more (a $40 value). Certified biodynamic and made with pure-living botanicals, Jurlique has become a favorite among fashionistas and celebrities such as Kate Moss, Gemma Ward, Kate Hudson and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Visit their two locations: Madison Avenue and West Broadway (Soho) for your opportunity to experience beauty by nature.

LA MER, LANCOME & SAKS FIFTH AVENUE:
(611 Fifth Avenue): Meet with scientists from the Max Huber research labs as they talk about the art of bio-fermentation as it applies to "the miracle broth" in the legendary formula for Creme De La Mer. Chris Benz will make an appearance at the Lancome Boutique.

MAC COSMETICS:
Soho (113 Spring St.): Meet and get a free signed copy of Janelle Monae's debut album Metropolis and be entertained by the tunes of DJ Harley Viera-Newton. Additional participating locations include: Columbus (148 Columbus Ave.): DJ Chelsea Leyland; Flatiron (175 Fifth Ave.): DJ Lola Schnabel; Macy's Herald Square (151 W. 34th St.): DJ Lady Starlight; Macy's Rego Park (90-51 Queens Blvd, Elmhurst, NY

EDRIS SALON, SALLY HANSEN, TARTE COSMETICS & TRACY REESE:
(641 Hudson Street): Get in the spirit to shop with a chance to refresh your whole look! Edris Salon, Sally Hansen, and Tarte Cosmetics will join together at the Tracy Reese flagship to help guests look and feel their best from head-to-toe. Sip a signature Frocktail or Plentini while enjoying complimentary hairstyling, mani's/pedi's, makeup applications and wardrobe revamping.

C.O. BIGELOW:
(414 Sixth Avenue): C.O. Bigelow, the oldest Apothecary in America will be offering a complimentary vintage soda fountain. When C.O. Bigelow first opened, they used to serve soda at this staple New York landmark that has seen the likes of everyone from Eleanor Roosevelt to Kelly Ripa and Sarah Jessica Parker. For FNO, they will also be handing out free Mentha Lip Shines, the number one selling lip gloss in America.

KORRES:
Head to Korres stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn for an evening of cocktails and makeovers. Both stores will feature "Detox Bubbles, Cupcakes & More" for guests to enjoy. Attendees can detox on the outside with a Korres makeover or advice on how to wear Vogue's hottest color looks of the season using "green" makeup. All guests will receive a gift bag including global bestsellers and Korres favorites selected by the Vogue beauty team. Complimentary makeovers can be pre-booked by visiting korresusa.com/news

BLUEMERCURY:
(2305 Broadway): Tear out your favorite look from Vogue Magazine or come in and flip through Vogue lookbooks to find your favorite. Meet expert makeup artists from Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Trish McEvoy or NARS and have your favorite look re-created and learn how to do it yourself. Champagne and sweets will be served. Complimentary Bluemercury ten-year anniversary gift with any $50 purchase.

ARROJO STUDIO:
(55 King Street): With the infinite number of photo-ops all week long, you can make sure your look is tight from head-to-toe with a "Fashion Week Blow Out" from stylists at Arrojo- the downtown authority on trend-focused, modern and fresh hairstyles. Stop by for blow-outs, styling tips, bang trims and more.

MAKE UP FOR EVER:
(8 East Twelfth Street): Live body painting, shopping incentives, buy any two products and get one free; "Just Eyes" appointments.

BARNEYS NEW YORK:
(660 Madison Avenue): Lipstick Queen Poppy King will offer "lip readings"; meet Olivia Chantecaille and receive complimentary mini facials & hand massages by her team; Creator Spencer Krenke of Saint Parfum, will custom blend a fragrance just for you; meet Fabrice Penot, co-creator of NYC based cult perfume Le Labo for a fragrance consultation; meet brush guru Claudio Riaz; Frederic Malle will sign fragrances and offer personal consultations; meet Sue Devitt and learn her celebrity artistry tricks; Intelligent Nutrients skincare consultations with organic cookies and tea; Barney's own beauty guru, Jason Ascher, will give your makeup bag a makeover.

SPACE NK:
(99 Greene Street): Join Space NK for an evening of cocktails and treats, while their skincare experts and makeup artists get you primed, prepped and glossed for New York's most fashionable week. Personalized gift bags while supplies last.

HENRI BENDEL:
Henri Bendel will kick off their "I'd Rather Wear Accessories" campaign where customers will be photographed wearing their favorite accessories and will have a chance to win the accessory of their choice in a sweepstakes, as well as raffle items. Beauty guru, Trish McEvoy will be on hand to meet customers.

MOLTON BROWN:
To celebrate the launch of the new men's range, all three Manhattan stores will be hosting a British Pub Night. Pints of Guinness and British Ales will be served along with traditional salted snacks. Customers will receive special shopping incentives.
