Yikes you already named my fav. Sam Fine! He is a makeup genius. He is the author of the ONLY makeup book I have ever purchased. I feel like I can actually follow his directions and emerge with a fab look.

I would have to throw it out there--tSam Fine--and its becuase his work is FLAWLESS--its impeccable. Not to mention his tips are amazing---easy to follow, his book really explains the fundamentals of makeup and when dealing with skin of color this not always easy..there are so many variations to deal with. I love him!!!

My favorite makeup artist is Pat McGrath. She is an artist with no formal training that knows/gets/understands/relates each face for the event in question. She uses traditional and non-traditional makeup techniques and products to get the finished look. She has worked with major brands (Armani, Cover Girl,Max Factor, etc...) to aid them in product launches. She LOVES her job and it shows in her work. She has the utmost respect of her colleagues in the business as well as photographers (some of which will not shoot without her). I got a glimpse of her at an event once. I sooo wish I had the opportunity to just say hi nice to meet you (if I could even speak at that moment). She has done countless i-D mag covers. She is at the major fashion shows with her team and makeup trunks in tow. She is AWESOME!! I look forward to snippets that ALLURE mag may have pertaining to tips or recent works she may have done. If she wrote a book or opened a school to share her talent the game (makeup) would be forever changed. The woman is gifted!

My favorite makeup artist is Pat McGrath! I love that she suggested applying your makeup and then getting into the tub. It makes my skin look so smooth and dewy and lovely. I love Pat McGrath!

Too many of my friends are makeup artists so it seems unfair to narrow it down even this much but my favourite famous makeup artist is Gucci Westman cuz her style is clean & natural! Asides from that, it would have to be Martin Pretorius - one of the original Guy Bourdin makeup artists, because he taught me everything (good) that I know :)

My favorite is Kevyn Aucoin, RIP. The way he transformed someone with makeup was just magical. It takes my breath away! I also really like the style of KJ Bennet. I take a lot of cues from his work and use them on myself. I love the fact that his website lists all the stuff he likes to use in his kit, too!

Hey Y'all,

Thanks for all your kind words! I'm not trying to receive a free pass to the Makeup Show. However, I wanted to list one of my favorite makeup artists.... Fran Cooper, she's legendary! Having worked with everyone from Britney Spears to Janet Jackson, this woman has done it all! If you don't know her... well, get to Google -ing!

Sincerely,
Sam Fine
