Ask Mischo Beauty...

This week's question comes from a reader, who asked the following:

"I have thin hair and when it gets wet it will get VERY curly, is there a product that can loosen my curls? Maybe like a relaxer?"

Well, a relaxer will straighten your hair permanently, so you'll want to stay away from it. But, a texturizer (which is just the mildest form of a relaxer) will loosen your curl pattern - if applied correctly. But, before rushing out for a texturizer, I'd recommend that you try the following curl enhancing products which are recommended for curly hair types:

- Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer
- Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding
- Frederic Fekkai Luscious Curls Cream
- Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream
- Redken Ringlet 07

Now I don't have curly hair, so my recommendations are from those I know who do and who basically swear by the products listed above! I hope this helps. Please stop back by and let us know how you decide to move forward! And as always, please feel free to send me any additional questions you might have. Love your skin.

If you have beauty questions you'd like answered, please send them to mischobeauty@gmail.com.

Mischo Beauty Covers Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Moroccanoil & Carolina Herrera Spring 2011

Celebrity hairstylist Orlando Pita, for Moroccanoil, lead the hair for Carolina Herrera's Spring 2011 collection. Two looks were created for the models (both with side parts)- one a straight ponytail and the other a looped ponytail. Each ponytail look was covered in barrettes to match the models' hair.

Orlando used Moroccanoil's Styling Cream and Oil Treatment to prep the models' hair, and finished each look with Luminous Hair Spray and Shine Spray.

I love that the hair beautifully complemented Carolina Herrera's inspiration for her collection- "the traditional clothes of Korea, and the botanical plates collected in the eighteenth century". So what are your thoughts on the hair? Love the barrettes?

Mischo Beauty Loves Moroccanoil

So I recently learned that Moroccanoil's Hydrating Styling Cream received Beauty Logic's stamp of approval, and I trust her reviews, so I had to give this product a try! Now there's been buzz about this collection of products since this summer and everybody, and I mean everybody seems to love them. Now the collection's key ingredient is moroccan oil (also called argan oil, which I discussed here), which is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E (antioxidant), and because of this the collection is supposed to work wonders for your hair.

I tested a complete regimen (in general, I prefer to use products specifically formulated to work with one another- just my personal preference) of the following:

- Moisture Repair Shampoo
- Moisture Repair Conditioner
- Restorative Hair Mask
- Oil Treatment
- Hydrating Styling Cream

And yes, I used the regimen in the order listed above- applying both the Oil Treatment and Hydrating Styling Cream to my hair while wet. Now my hair is now 4 months post-texturizer (so my roots are natural and very thick) and my hair type is 4. I had very high expectations before using this regimen and yes, I'm impressed! My hair was easy to detangle, soft and my hair was smooth after blow drying. Everything I both heard and read was true!

So have you tried any of the above products? Love them?
