Do you tip after receiving salon/spa services?
If you don't, then please tell us why? And if you do, then how much? Do you tip when the person performing your service is the owner of the business? Also, do you leave your tips at the front desk with reception, or do you give your tip directly to the person who performed the service? Would love to know your thoughts in the comments section below!

I always tip for a service of any kind, usually 20% but more if I am treated exceptionally well. If I know the person is the business owner I keep it at 20%. I try to tip the person directly unless I neglected to carry enough cash, in which case I will add it to my credit card.
since going natural with my hair and doing it myself, the only things that I get services done to are my nails and my eyebrows. If I go get my nails done, it's at this great small place and I tip every time and definitely tip if the owner does my nails because she is the best and we have a great rapport. I'll often times get my eyebrows done here as well, so tip tip tip.
now that i work at Ulta, we have a Benefit beauty bar and I'll get my eyebrows done there too and I make sure to tip because I always tip on services of any kind and i can't be seen as a loser cheapskate at work! lol. They are really good anyway, so no problem with that. Only time that I don't tip is for crappy service and i've only had that happen like twice in life at restaurants and once at a hair salon.
I always tip - on average 20%. At my spa, I don't usually have the opportunity to see the person afterwards as they give me quiet time, etc. The spa provides envelopes at the front desk for us to leave tips. I will tip whoever performed the service(s), owner or otherwise. I would prefer to directly tip but I have to be flexible as sometimes I forget to bring cash or they use the envelope method.
I always tip wether it is the owner or not. I've always been that way but I started tipping more after I worked as a waitress during college. It changes my whole view point. I prefer to give my tip directly to the person who provided the service.
To Kathy: Thanks for sharing! I actually do the same as well.
To socialitedreams: Good for you- and I agree!
To NewRibena: I'm like you- my preference is to give it to the therapist directly, but I'm flexible! Thank you for sharing!
To Chanel: Totally agree with you because like you, and since becoming a licensed cosmetologist/esthetician/makeup artist, I now know what it feels like to be both a client and therapist!!! And, my preference is to give it to the therapist directly (for soooo many reasons!)- but I'm flexible...
I always tip usually between 15% (for okay) to 30% (for great). I have occasionally not tipped for really horrible service. One of the few times I didn't tip was when I took my grandmother to get a mani and pedi for her 75th birthday and the girl who did her feet didn't even clip her toenails even though she requested that multiple times and my grandmother gets her feet done because she can't bend over anymore to trim them - so it needed to be done! But of course, if I have an experience like that and don't tip somewhere I probably will not be going back to that salon/whatever again.
I like to give the tip directly to the person who provided the service but if I forgot to bring cash I will have to put it on the card at the front. I admit I usually tip more if I get the owner - but I think that's not because they're the owner but I usually get better service.
To Pixie: Love your feedback! Thank you so much for sharing! :)
Still something I need to get used to... from South Africa, we dont tip when we go to spas thats ridiculous. Its expensive enough, you save up for some really good treatment or something and then people expect tips from you, nobody tips me for answering the phone and attending to my colleagues' needs. We do obviously tip in restaurants, but we tip what we want to. You should be able to tip if you feel like it.
